Prof Menico Rizzi guest at the Oncology Seminars at Nerviano Medical Sciences

On Friday, May 22nd, 2009, Professor Menico Rizzi, has visited Nerviano Medical Sciences and, within the Oncology Seminar Series, has presented a Seminar entitled: "NAD metabolism in health and disease: a structural biology perspective".
Prof. Menico Rizzi is a well recognised and internationally regarded expert in protein crystallography. 
Prof. Rizzi is presently the head of a group studying the biochemistry and structural biology of enzymes of medical interest with a particular focus on poverty-linked diseases (malaria, tuberculosis).
The major goal of his research activity is the description of the catalytic mechanism adopted by the selected enzymes using as a core activity X-ray crystallography, flanked by kinetics analysis and site directed mutagenesis.
For each enzyme subjected to 3D structure determination, an assay suitable for HTS procedures is also developed.
