Emanuela Colombo guest at the Oncology Seminars at Nerviano Medical Sciences
Nerviano, July 4 - Dr Emanuela Colombo, from the IFOM-IEO Institute in Milano, has visited Nerviano Medical Sciences and, within the Oncology Seminar Series, she has presented her work concerning "Mutations of NPM in Acute Myeloid Leukemia".
After finishing her Ph.D in Microbiology and Virology at the
University of Milan in 1996 and a post-doctoral fellowship at the European Institute of Oncology (IEO) from 1996 to 2003, she obtained a Research Assistant position at that Institute. There, she has been studying the role of mutated proteins and fusion proteins derived from cromosomal traslocation in leukemia development. Today she works within the IEO oncology research program "Molecular mechanisms of cancer and aging in mammals" directed by Dr. Pier Giuseppe Pelicci. One of the main focus of the group is to generate model systems of human cancer for the validation of emerging concepts in tumor biology .
